School Governance

In June 2018 the Department of Education, supported by DMBC, appointed an interim Executive Board (IEB)/ The IEB is accountable to the Local Authority and has a duty to conduct the business of the school in such a way as to secure a sound basis for future improvement.

The IEB will carry out the functions of a governing body of the school for the time that it is in office.

Message form the chair of the IEB

The IEB has been in place just short of a year. We are a group of professionals who have different experiences of the education agenda and delivery in schools. We draw upon that experience to drive our commitment to raising the educational achievement and life chances of all our pupils.

We welcome and look forward to working with parents and carers to meet the needs of our pupils. The IEB and staff have high expectations and standards to be met;- be it wearing with pride our school uniform; conforming to our rules of behaviour; respecting others, both adults and peers; arriving at school on time and ready for learning; and making the most of the learning opportunities in school and the wider curriculum offered including visits to interesting places.

We hope that you have seen the changes and improvements made thus far in our journey. Early years, KS1 and KS2 achievement has increased. Behaviour in school has improved. The classrooms are now bright and have on show the work of our pupils.  There is still a way to go. But the IEB remains committed to supporting Woodlands primary school and hope that you continue to work with us for the educational success of all our pupils.
