Years 3 and 4 Football Tournament

5 April 2017 (by admin)

Years 3 and 4 went to the Keepmoat Stadium today to compete in a 6-a-Side Football.

The pupils in Years 3 and 4 played some tremendous football today. Taking part in the Doncaster Rovers Y3/4 tournament at the Keepmoat Stadium, the pupils quickly got in to their stride and won all their group games comfortably. Mr Beech was delighted with the start they had as all the hard work in training had paid off.

Progressing in to the Quarter-finals, the Woodlands team qualified with some solid football and brilliant goalkeeping in to the Semi-Finals. After a tough semi-final, the team had made it in to the final.

The final was a close fought affair and Woodlands had to come back from being one goal down. They did this with some impressive football and good teamwork. With the score level after extra-time, the lottery of penalty kicks came. Unfortunately, the boys lost out by one kick. However, they finished a creditable 2nd in a very tough competition with schools taking part from all over Doncaster.

Mr Stirling from Active Fusion watched the games and was really impressed with the standard of football played and told the Woodlands Website how unlucky the boys were. Mr Beech was full of praise for the team who played a consistently high standard of football throughout the tournament.
